Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology Visits Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, Itanagar

The Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology (APSCS&T), Er. Tage Taki, visited the Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre in Itanagar today, accompanied by Director-cum-Member Secretary Shri C. D. Mungyak and Curator Dr. Vivek Kumar.
During the visit, Er. Taki conducted a comprehensive review of key sections within the Science Centre, including the Dino Park, Science Fun Gallery, Mirror Gallery, and Emerging Technologies Gallery. He emphasized the importance of regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure the Centre remains a vibrant hub for learning and curiosity among students and the public.
He also highlighted the need to elevate the Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre to Category I status, aligning its infrastructure and educational offerings with national standards to enhance its capacity to inspire and educate.
The Chairman inspected the Innovation Hub, expressing high appreciation for the grassroots innovations developed by young innovators and members. He engaged with Computer Science Engineering students from Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College, currently undergoing industrial internship training, encouraging them to leverage their skills for practical solutions.
Following this, Er. Taki visited the Digital Planetarium, acknowledging its potential as an immersive educational tool that can significantly foster scientific temper among students.
A discussion session was subsequently held with officials and staff, focusing on strategies to strengthen science popularization efforts across Arunachal Pradesh. Er. Taki underscored the importance of promoting entrepreneurial ventures rooted in innovation, especially those originating at the grassroots level. He emphasized the role of automation and technology-based solutions in benefiting local communities.
He also highlighted the significance of diversifying innovation into priority sectors such as sustainable product development, crop enhancement, and water supply management—areas where Science and Technology interventions can contribute to building a self-reliant Arunachal Pradesh and bolster regional development in the Northeastern region.
Concluding his visit, Er. Taki reiterated the crucial role of nurturing a scientific mindset among students and youth, inspiring the next generation to become problem solvers, innovators, and entrepreneurs who can shape a brighter future for Arunachal Pradesh.

Industrial Intership Training Commenced at Innovation Hub, AP Science Centre
An Industrial Internship Training Programme for the students of Computer Science Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College, Itanagar, commenced today at the Innovation Hub, Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCS&T).
The internship is a part of the student\’s Summer Training Programme aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements through hands-on learning and real-time exposure.
The inaugural session was graced by Shri C.D. Mungyak, Director-cum-Member Secretary, APSCS&T , who welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of this opportunity. He emphasized the importance of active participation and attentiveness, as the programme is designed to sharpen their technical skills and innovative thinking, preparing them for real world challenges in the field of computer science.
A short briefing on the Innovation Hub and National Innovation Foundation (NIF) was delivered by Dr. Vivek Kumar, Curator, AP Science Centre, highlighting how the platform nurtures grassroots innovation and technological creativity.
This was followed by a detailed orientation by the mentors, innovation hub, where the students were introduced to the core topics that will be covered during the internship ranging from coding, project-based learning, embedded systems, EV3 robotics, web designing, 3D printing, IoT applications, software-hardware integration etc. The students also got a first hand look at some of the in-house innovations and tech prototypes developed by Innovation Hub members, sparking curiosity and inspiration for their upcoming projects.
A total of 13 students have registered for the programme. This initiative also marks a step forward in Institute-Industry collaboration, fostering practical exposure and skill development among budding engineers.
While today’s session served as an introduction and orientation, the hands-on training will commence from tomorrow. The internship will continue till 11th July 2025, providing students with a month-long immersive experience in a professional innovation driven environment.
Observed World Environment Day 2025
Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, Itanagar, today observed World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from school students across the capital region. The event brought together a total of 105 students, from Good Shepherd School, Naharlagun, Delhi Public School (Junior Wing), Itanagar, JNK Public School, and Green Mount School.
The program commenced with a welcome address and a brief introduction to the significance of World Environment Day by Dr. Vivek Kumar, Curator, Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre. He also highlighted this year’s global theme, “Putting an end to plastic pollution\”, emphasizing the role of youth in environmental restoration and sustainable living.
To ensure age-appropriate engagement, the activities were divided into two groups, senior and junior students. The senior group participated in science-based demonstrations including Working of the Vermicarium, Underwater Telescope observation, Transpiration Check and Use of Rainwater Gauge and modules from the Eureka Eco Kit.
This was followed by an engaging plantation drive, where students contributed to the green cause firsthand.
For the junior group, a fun filled DIY craft session was organized using recycled plastic bottles and paper, encouraging creativity and sustainable thinking from an early age.
As a green takeaway, all students were gifted plant saplings to be nurtured at their homes or schools encouraging them to be stewards of the environment beyond the day’s event.
